  • Richard Maranville left his position as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at FedEx Kinko’s and has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at The Freeman Company, a Dallas, Texas based Events and Exhibits solutions company.   • American Fidelity Assurance has named Michael Leonard Chief Security Officer.
  • Kathy Lane formerly CIO at National Gird was named CIO of retailer TJX.

  • The New York Times Company named Joseph N. Seibert as Chief Information Officer.   • President Obama appointed Vivek Kundra, formerly CTO for the District of Columbia, as the first federal CIO.  The new CIO (who is 34 years old) will manage all of that federal technology spending.  Read the Washington Post Article
  • President Obama also appointed Aneesh Chopra Federal Chief Technology Officer. Chopra was Secretary of Technology for the State of Virginia 
  • Borders promoted Dan Smith from executive vice president of human resources to the new position of chief administrative officer. In his new position, Smith will retain his human resources responsibilities but also oversee the company’s information technology group.

  • On April 2, 2009 Jennifer Prue was let go from her position as Chief Information Officer at Town Sports International, the company is currently conducting a search for a new CIO.
  • FBI CIO Zalami Azmi announced his resignation from the Agency. Read the Press Release.
  • Colin Boyd joined Johnson Controls as vice president, information technology and chief information officer. He will lead the company's IT function, succeeding Sam Valanju, who will retire next spring. Boyd previously was chief information officer and corporate vice president of Sony Ericsson, London.

  • EMC announced that Sanjay Mirchandani has been appointed Chief Information Officer
  • Chad Kirkpatrick was named Arizona’s chief information officer and director of the Government Information Technology Agency.
  • Rob Wilson, formerly of CMS, was named vice president of information systems for Allegiant Air
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) named Alan Hughes Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.  Hughes comes to BCBSNC from GE Commercial Finance and Deutsche Financial Services.  At GE Financial he served as CIO for Global Risk Management.  He will replace John Sternbergh who is retiring in June.

 IT Outsourcing Contracts

 

·         On April 1, 2009, IBM announced that the Campbell Soup Company signed a 65-month agreement for information technology (IT) outsourcing services. Campbell and IBM have been IT services partners since 1994. As part of the agreement, IBM will provide IT infrastructure services, network support, application maintenance services and security services from IBM Internet Security Systems. IBM will offer infrastructure services on demand for enhanced cost efficiency and increased flexibility. IBM's global delivery centers will support Campbell's operations in North America, Asia Pacific and Europe.

 

·         IBM and Equifax announced they have signed a contract amendment for information technology (IT) services in the United States, Canada, Spain and the U.K. As part of the agreement, IBM will provide data center services including mainframe, midrange server, client service desk, network and business continuity and resiliency services for Equifax's operations. IBM will utilize its global delivery network of service centers and data centers to support Equifax's employees and customers worldwide.

 

·         On May 5, 2009, CSC announced that it had signed a IT outsourcing agreement with Xerox Corporation. The contract, which has a seven-year base period, is valued in excess of $100 million. Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide mainframe processing and application support to Xerox's North American business. Work will be performed by CSC's Global Outsourcing Services at various locations across the globe utilizing the company's World Sourcing delivery centers.

  • On May 12, 2009, WorkflowOne signed a $40 million six-year contract with Memorial Hermann, the largest integrated health system in Texas for all of its print services. Under the renewed contract, valued at $40 million over its six-year duration, WorkflowOne will provide Memorial Hermann's 11 hospitals and numerous regional affiliates with forms, commercial printing, promotional products, warehousing, fulfillment and distribution, all managed by an onsite team of support professionals. 
  • On April 20, 2009, CIBER announced that it had signed a five-year IT Outsourcing contract renewal with Sharp Electronics Corp. As part of the renewal, CIBER will provide SAP operative support and complete ITIL management with a 40-person support team in both domestic and international locations. CIBER will continue to provide both operational and project support and will expand their relationship with Sharp via their CIBER Outsourcing Platform which is made up of people, ITIL-based processes and an integrated tool set to meet multiple IT requirements for SAP, Helpdesk, Network, Server & Systems, Storage, Security and Desktop.
